For one person applying from Spain with our full-service package, the Spain digital nomad visa costs about €2,700–3,300 all in: our fee of €1,990–2,500 (sworn translations included), the government fee of €73.26, and a year of private health insurance at about €600–700. On top of that come small official fees for your residence card and for the police certificate and apostilles from your home country.

If you prepare everything yourself, the official fees are low. What costs money is the paperwork around them: certificates, apostilles, sworn translations and insurance. This page lists what you pay either way, answers whether you need a lawyer, and shows our prices with what's in them and what isn't.

If you come on a one-year visa from a consulate, you later apply for the residence permit in Spain as well, so the permit fee comes on top of the visa fee. The two routes are compared in Apply from inside Spain or through a consulate.

Costs you pay either way

  • Police certificate from home. UK applicants need an ACRO certificate, US applicants an FBI Identity History Summary. Both charge their own fee.
  • Apostilles. The FCDO charges £45 per document in 2026. For federal documents such as the FBI check, the US Department of State's fee has been $20 per document since 2021.
  • Sworn translations into Spanish of everything issued abroad, apostilles included. The price depends on how many documents you have and how long they are. Our full-service package includes them.
  • Private health insurance if you're not covered by Spanish Social Security: about €600–700 a year per adult bought directly from a Spanish insurer, more through a broker. See health insurance for the visa.
  • For a consulate application: a medical certificate and travel to the visa centre.

Family members pay the government fee and need their own certificates and translations, and their own insurance unless you're registered as self-employed in Spain.

Do you need a lawyer?

No law requires one. But if you apply from inside Spain, the application goes to the UGE online and has to be signed with a Spanish digital certificate, which you can't get before you have a residence permit. So in practice you need a representative who signs with their own certificate under your power of attorney. That's the core of what we do. Through a consulate you file in person, so you can do it alone.

Why a range. The price depends on how many documents you have, whether family members apply with you, and how your income is proved: one salary is simpler than several clients. We fix the price in writing before we start.

Applying through a consulate? With the €500 package we check your documents and prepare the file, and you submit it in person: consulates accept applications only from the applicant.

Self-employment and startup permits

Self-employment permit (cuenta propia) — €2,500–3,000. We write the business plan from your input, get the self-employed workers' association's report on it, prepare and translate the file, and support you up to your residence card. The same price applies whether you switch from a digital nomad permit or apply for a first permit through a consulate. Government fees are not included. A first permit from a consulate lasts one year; its renewal is priced separately. See the self-employment permit.

Startup (entrepreneur) permit — €3,000–3,500 for the first founder. We write the business plan from your draft and figures. Each additional founder adds €1,000. Family members are priced as for the digital nomad permit.

  2. Sep 2026

The UGE has started questioning whether apostilles are genuine; bring the paper originals of everything apostilled when you move.

FAQ

How much does the Spain digital nomad visa cost in total?

For one person applying from Spain with our full-service package, about €2,700–3,300, plus the residence card fee and the police certificate and apostille fees from your home country. Doing it yourself costs less in fees, but you'll pay for translations and need a representative with a Spanish digital certificate for an application from Spain.

Is it cheaper to apply through a consulate?

The fees are similar, and you can file without a representative. But you get a one-year visa and then apply for the residence permit in Spain, so there are two applications instead of one.

Do I need a lawyer for the digital nomad visa?

No law requires one. For an application from inside Spain you need someone with a Spanish digital certificate to file it, which is what we do. We're not a law firm.

What does the €500 package not include?

Collecting your documents, sworn translations and support with your residence card. If the UGE asks for more documents, we help you write the answer at no extra cost.

How much does it cost to add my family?

€500–900 per family member for our work, plus the government fee and, unless you're registered as self-employed in Spain, health insurance for each of them.

Why do you give a range and not a fixed price?

Because the work depends on your documents, your family and how your income is proved. We fix the price in writing before we start, after we've seen your situation.
